The Expendables - Review

Rarely have I seen an action movie with such a testosterone overkill like Stallone's "The Expendables". Right from the start when i heard that there was a Stallone movie with a cast consisting of all the great action heroes of all time in the works, i couldn't wait for it.

The plot centers around an elite mercenary group called "The Expendables", which consists of: Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Dolph Lundgren.
The mercenaries' next mission is to kill a general bla bla WHO DA FUCK CARES ABOUT THE STORY?!

Let me get this out of the way first: The Expendables almost completely concentrates on the action and the nostalgia.
The Story is pretty flat and nothing you haven't heard of already.

But dude!,...Schwarzenegger, Willis, etc. are in the same movie. HOW AWESOME CAN YOU GET?!

The acting as you might expect is just ok. It serves its purpose well: delivering the thin story, some nice jokes but most importantly: coool quotes! And this movie got plenty of em.

The action scenes of this movie are soooo damn good. Stallone really knows how to give action fans what they want. I especially like the brutality of the hand-to-hand combat moments. The violence really reminded me of Rambo 4 but in this movie, it's delivered in a much more entertaining way. (As in Rambo 4 you were grossed out at some points).
The action scenes contain no bullshit CGI and therefore are sooo much better than in other blockbusters like the bullshit A-Team movie.

It may come kind of disappointing that some action stars get a bit too little screentime. I wished that the great Willis or Schwarzenegger would join the fun (but this would have probably hurt his political career).
Also i think that The Expendables could be a bit longer. A movie so entertainingly violent, brutal, fun, nostalgic should be way longer. But nevertheless the length is ok.
(The final showdown really makes up for it).

I hope i don't disappoint anybody by writing such a short review about such an entertaining movie.
But come on,...this is a 100% pure action movie. Nothing more, nothing less. There is not really much to talk about.

I think you will either completely love or hate this movie. Don't expect a "Schindler's List Part 2", this is a brutal action flick by the book, made by one of the greatest action stars of all time, containing every great action star of all time.

I am a big action movie fan (especially the classics) and therefore i think this is one of the best action flicks this year (if not THE best).
Bravo Stallone Bravo! You old man are still able to kick ass!

So, if you are just as a big fan of action as i am:

Final Verdict: 6 out of 10
