Today the iconic Power Rangers franchise got the Mortal Kombat Legacy treatment in a short film that just got released on YouTube by director Joseph Kahn and producer Adi Shankar.

Boasted with admittedly impressive effects for such a low budget production, the short film titled Power/Rangers picks up in a post-apocalyptic world in which the Rangers have all went off the radar.
The short movie itself is mostly told in retrospect as former Ranger Kimberly (played by Katee Sackhoff) is interrogated by Rocky (played by James Van Der Beek) who apparently switched sides.

Though at times maybe a bit too often trying too hard to be dark, gritty and brutal, overall Power/Rangers is a very well crafted vision on the cheesy 90s heroes. Complete with the aforementioned impressive special effects and some more or less cool fight scenes, it's definitely worth a watch. Especially if you belong to the ones who used to watch them on TV back in the day.
