Return to Wonderland with Alice Through the Looking Glass

The first trailer for the financially succesful but crtically lukewarm received Alice in Wonderland is here.

With Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland having made over a billion in its international box office, it's no wonder that a sequel would eventually be made.
Stepping much into the footsteps of its predecessor, Alice Through the Looking Glass once again seems to take quite some liberties with its story even though it is supposedly based on the second Alice book by Lewis Carroll.
However, this time Alice has the task to save The Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) from the excentric "lord of the clocks" Time (Sacha Baron Cohen).
While the visuals once again are of course very CGI heavy, outlandish and very fascinating to look at, it remains questionable whether Alice Through The Looking Glass manages to overcome being simple eye-candy and nothing more like Tim Burton's predecessor.
Now being directed by James Bobin instead of Tim Burton himself, the movie nevertheless once again seems to boast the same quirky humor and big focus on Johnny Depp's character.
But let's just hope that Bobin manages to learn from the mistakes of the first movie and stick a little bit closer to the original books.

Alice Through the Looking Glass hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
