The Apocalypse is here: The First Trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse

After the visitors at this year's San Diego Comic Con already saw it, now finally the first trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse went online for the whole world to see.
Picking up after the ending credits scene from Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse focusses on the iconic Marvel villain, Apocalypse, who is not only the very first mutant, but along with his great ancient powers, he brings along his urge to cleanse the world of everything weak to build a new elitist mutant dominated world. Once again, it's now up to the (still young) X-Men to stop him.
After the heavily mocked first reveal of Apocalypse's admittedly quite "underwhelming" look and physique, this first trailer nevertheless actually does a fairly good job of covering that up with a stellar and fittingly apocalyptic presentation. Though most of this is achieved by only showing short glimpses of Apocalypse, the trailer does very well in describing Apocalypse as an ancient evil force capable of taking over any mutant he sees fit to assist and serve him. Sure, we have seen a similar endtimes theme recently in Days of Future Past, yet X-Men: Apocalypse for once focusses it all on one single villain which should change things up just enough.
What remains far more questionable though, is whether the new X-Men cast, mostly consisting of young teenage actors, is able to replace the old X-Men team that we have come to love from the first movies.

We will find out when the apocalypse begins in theaters on May 27, 2016.
